Poznan is undoubtedly the most important business centre of Poland outside of Warsaw. This is due to large investments as well as the trading character of the city. A multitude of tradeshows from different sectors are organised here, attracting people from all over Poland and abroad. Poznan offers much more than just business, however. It hosts a wide array of cultural events for both the young and older crowds. Contemporary as well as classical art exhibitions are often on display here. Poznan also hosts various music concerts, ranging from the serious to those that target a youth audience. Besides these various events, the city, like any university hub, has a wide selection of bars and pubs to liven up the evening atmosphere. The most lively ones, of course, are to be found in the vicinity of the Main Square (Rynek). An additional attraction is Maltanskie Lake, which organises various concerts and happenings. It is also important to note that Poznan offers, above all, an immense quantity of historical monuments from the time of the first Polish Piast dynasty.
